We Set Sail
lyrics by Jason Amelio
music by the Velveteen Band
Our lives our filled with treasure!
Our bellies are filled with ale!
Another night of plunder!
WE SET SAIL!!
Our lives our filled with treasure!
Our bellies are filled with ale!
Another night of plunder!
WE SET SAIL!!
Pulling anchor at night,
when the winds give us flight.
The orders are given and we move to strike.
No purchase no pay.
I’d choose no other way
than to fight every night and to drink every day.
My home is my ship,
watching tides rip.
The captain is fair, but he’ll take no lip.
I long for the sea.
I long to be free.
It might sound cliche, but it’s the life for me!
Our lives our filled with treasure!
Our bellies are filled with ale!
Another night of plunder!
WE SET SAIL!!
Our lives our filled with treasure!
Our bellies are filled with ale!
Another night of plunder!
WE SET SAIL!!
(solo)
After years spent at sea,
I’m plagued by scurvy;
This isn’t the life that I hoped it would be.
My quarters are dank.
My choice is the plank.
The rum is all weak and the food is all rank.
Now the Kraken appears.
The ship fills with fear!
Surely the end is drawing near!
I longed for the sea
I longed to be free
Now it’s off to Davy Jones’ Locker for me!!
Our lives filled with displeasure!
Our bellies are sick with ale!
Another night of plunder!
WE SET SAIL!!
Our lives filled with displeasure!
Our bellies are sick with ale!
Another night of plunder!
WE SET SAIL!!!
La da dadada da da!
La la da dada da!
Lada la dada dada da!
WE SET SAIL!!!
La da dadada da da!
La la dadada da!
Lada la dada dada da!
WE SET SAIL!!!
I like the opening ocean waves. There is an envigersting vibe or rhythm. Of course the trumpet solos are are good. This one was exceptional. It is refreshing that these pirates learned their lesson and ended up in Davy Jones’ locker.
